Want to get flooded with organic traffic on your Divi website?

You are in the right place to start!

Let’s go through our ultimate guide on Divi SEO, helping you make your website a magnet for organic traffic.

Built-in Divi SEO Optimization Settings

Being an SEO-friendly theme, Divi offers built-in SEO settings where you can optimize your content with just a small tweak.

Just go over Divi > Theme Options > SEO

You will find three Divi SEO optimization options here- Homepage SEO, Single Post Page SEO, and Index Page SEO.

Let’s get to know about their customization.

Add Custom Things for Homepage SEO

Divi empowers you to tailor how search engines understand your homepage with its dedicated SEO options. The options consist of two sections.

  • The first section is a set of four toggles that allow you to use the features
  • Next is a set of fields where you can enter information about specific features

Here, you can find the site title and tagline in the WordPress General Settings menu. By enabling this Divi custom title option, you can customize the title without changing the default title and tagline.

Simply enable the button and enter your custom title in the field.

The customization of the Homepage Meta Description and Homepage Meta Keywords is the same as the custom title. Enable the toggle and enter your custom meta description and meta keywords in the fields.

Enable Canonical URL’s

If there are duplicate versions of a webpage, search engines like Google choose the canonical URL as the main version. Using this option will prevent search results from showing repetitive content that does not provide unique value.

Such as –

  • Canonical URL: https:/divigear.com/blog/
  • Alternate URL: https://divigear.com/blog/?page=1

Choose Autogeneration Method

This setting allows you to control the titles of your posts if you don’t use custom post titles. You will find here three options to choose from.

Define Separator

In this section, you can change the separator character between your blog title and post name when using autogenerated post titles.

Single Post Page SEO Optimization

Single Post Page SEO customizations are the same as Homepage SEO. But it allows you to specify the settings for blog posts and pages using their Custom Fields.

Now to enable the custom field –

  • Go to the Pages > Add New Pages
  • Click on the three dots at the top right corner.
  • Check the bottom Preferences > Panels and enable the Custom Fields option
  • Next, by clicking on the ‘Show & Reload Page’ button will redirect you to a custom field

Now you have a custom field at the bottom of the page. Enter the value for the field you want to add. It is up to you how many fields you want to add.

Let’s look at an example.

We take here three custom fields –  title, descriptions, and keywords. Now enable the visual builder. Select one module that has a dynamic content input system and insert the fields you created.

After implementation, the settings on a single page will look like this –

Due to the same settings as page optimization, the single post will look like this –

Note: Since Google has stopped using meta keywords to rank web pages over a decade ago, so, we do not use it here.

Index Page SEO Settings

Index pages are usually blog pages that show your all blog posts.

However, the settings of Index page SEO are similar to homepage SEO, except it has fewer options, such as:

  • Enable canonical URLs.
  • Enable meta descriptions.
  • Choose the title autogeneration method.
  • Define a character to separate BlogName and Post title.

Divi SEO Optimization Using a Third-Party SEO Plugin

While the built-in SEO features are enough for SEO optimization, you can achieve better results with a third-party plugin.

Among a couple of options, we recommend the best SEO plugin for Divi is ‘Rank Math’. However, you can also consider Yoast, All in One SEO, SEOPress, or others from the WordPress plugin section.

Rank Math – a powerful SEO plugin for WordPress that simplifies SEO optimization for users of all skill levels.

Before diving into the optimization, you have to install and activate the plugin, and then configure it to your preferences.

After doing the necessaries, you will see a Rank Math SEO icon next to the Divi icon in the visual builder.

Improve the Divi SEO Snippet

The snippet is the preview of your content displayed in Google search results. It includes the title, site name, description, and more. Rank Math SEO lets you edit this snippet to control its appearance via the ‘Edit Snippet’ button.

In the Rank Math SEO snippet, you can add the title, permalink, and description. Each element receives a score with a color-coded visual bar, indicating its effectiveness. This helps you quickly identify what works and what doesn’t.

At the top of the right, you will get two preview option that includes icons to preview the desktop and mobile versions.

Snippet for Social Media

The social tab allows you to configure social media sharing settings for Facebook and Twitter. By using this option, you can set an image, title, and description for both social media options.

Note: Both social media options offer a wide variety of configurations. Take a look at them and apply them to get the best results on Facebook and Twitter.

Content Optimization

The very first Rank Math SEO panel optimization comes with keyword settings. It gives you a field named ‘Focus Keyword’, where you have to insert the keywords you want to rank for.

It has also the same colored metrics (green > yellow > red) as the snippet option, indicating whether the keywords will rank or not. Try to make your keywords on the green or score 100/100.

Note: Rank Math is not a dedicated keyword research tool, but it helps you find more keywords by searching for keywords automatically on Google. You have to do your own keyword research before setting up the focus keyword.

Second, Rank Math SEO continues its content optimization with four simple steps. Basic SEO, Additional, Title Readability, and Content Readability.

  • Basic SEO helps you to find error counts and details on aspects like title, description, URL keyword, initial content keywords, focus keyword presence, and word count.
  • Additional settings include subheadings, images, keyword density, URL length, outbound links, nofollow, internal links, and checks if the keyword has been used before or not.
  • Title Readability examines your post’s title, checks the placement of the focus keyword, and searches for positive and negative words, power words, and numbers in the title.
  • Content Readability identifies the short length of paragraphs in your content and visuals, such as images and videos.

Simply follow the instructions on these points to get the best results in SEO optimization.

Schema Markup Addition

Rank Math comes with schema markup settings that improve search engine understanding. It helps search engines rank your pages for relevant search queries.

You can make adjustments by clicking the Schema Generator button. By clicking this you will get two options here – Schema Templates and Custom Schema.

Now, select templates that suit your needs and customize them. Let’s say we’re going to use the ‘Article’ template here.

Otherwise, if you want to use Custom Schema, you have to upgrade the Rank Math to Pro.

Note: Our guide integrates only with the free version of Rank Math. To unlock more SEO customization, serve yourself with its pro version
